5 Steps to Detoxify your Skin

Step 1 What are the signs that your skin needs detoxing?

If you have any of the following it is most likely you have toxic skin.

Oily skin, hormonal imbalance, using alcohol or peroxide on your skin, medication, PCOS, illness, dieting, no skin routine, using toxic ingredients on your skin.

· Oily Skin Excess oil can congest the skin and cause pimples and blackheads

· Blackheads Excess oil and using a good skin care routine

· White heads A good skin care routine

· Uneven skin lackluster, blotchy

· Pustules Pimples, infection, cystic acne, lumps

· Scarring Redness, icepick scars, acne scarring

· Devitalised Uneven tone, lacking colour, thick surface, small lumps, weight loss

· Hormones Contraceptive pill, hormonal implants, teenage hormonal increases

Step 2 Beautiful Skin is Clean skin

· Cleanser Foaming cleanser is best for toxic skin unless it is also sensitive then use a milk cream cleanser however do not use soap. Make sure you remove make-up, excess oil, pollution, grime, dirt, and I recommend doing two cleanses in the evening

· Steaming Use any of the below essential oils and steam the face twice a week for 10 minutes. After steaming the skin is soft and this is a great time to exfoliate the skin

· Exfoliation Manual and fruit enzymes and salicylic acid – 2-3 times a week

· Toning Balances PH, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal – apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, lotions

Step 3 Detoxifying treatments

· Avoid Alcohol, peroxide, products loaded with chemicals and toxic ingredients, SLS

· Essential Oils Stimulate healing, anti-bacterial, anti-germicidal, anti- fungal, balance hormones, balance oil flow, fight infections, calm, soothe and heal the skin

· Tea Tree Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal

· Basil Balance hormones

· Lavender Anti-inflammatory, healing

· Eucalyptus Healing, fights infection

· Chamomile Calming soothing redness

· Rosemary Balances oil flow

· Juniper Fights infection, balance oil flow

· Dilute EO Coconut oil, jojoba oil, aloe vera gel

Step 4 Healing Mask

· Benefits Exfoliate, deliver minerals and vitamins to the skin, refine, detoxifies, tones, revitalizes, draws out impurities, sleep with clay mask on pimples

· Types Clay, peel off masks and fruit enzyme peels

· Mask Use a mask 2-3 times a week and if you have acne or pimples you can put a small layer of the clay mask on and sleep with it on. I recommend using a fruit enzyme mask once a week as well as the manual scrubs

Make your own mask -

Detox Mask Recipe

Green Clay I tablespoon

White Clay or Rice Flour 1 tablespoon

Tumeric 1 Teaspoon

Witchazel 1 Tablespoon

Juniper 3 drops

Tangerine 4 drops

Tea Tree 2 drops

· Add the clays and turmeric and mix to combine

· Add the witch hazel and mix well

· Add the essential oils one at a time and mix well to distribute the oils

· Mix to a paste consistency

· Leave on the skin for 10-20 minutes.

· You can put a thin layer on pimples and leave on overnight.

Step 5 Diet – Fight from the inside and the outside

I try and treat from the outside and the inside out. Although I am not a dietician, I have found that the following supplement and diets have helped my clients when their skin is toxic, especially if they have acne.

· Supplements Vit A & E & C, Zinc, lemon water, apple cider vinegar, pro-biotic, magnesium

· Green juice Celery, cucumber, apple, parsley, kale, spinach, pear

· Foods to avoid Dairy, gluten, sugar, refined foods, chemicals, artificial colors and flavorings

· Foods to eat Green leafy veg, fruit, berries, lean protein, low glycemic diet, apple cider vinegar, zinc rich foods, alkaline water
