Oily and acne skin is the over production of sebum or oil which is usually genetically determined which can make it difficult to treat. The hormones responsible for oil production are androgens or male hormones and they are naturally present in both men and women. When there is normal oil flow it has incredible effects on the skin such as preventing dryness, maintaining hydration, and preserving the skins microflora. If you have too much oil your skin will have black heads, pimples, your pores will be enlarged and you will develop pimples and acne. Your skin can thicken up and which will prevent the oils from getting through and this can cause black heads, white bumps, cystic acne and acne.
 
Oily skin is classically recognised by the following;
Your pores will be visibly larger especially on your forehead, nose and chin
Your skin will be shiny a few hours after cleansing
The oiliest parts of your face will have blackheads and pimples
Your make up will disappear off your face within a few hours 
 
The most important part of caring for oily skin is critically reviewing your current skin care routine. There are many ingredients to avoid as it strips the oils from your skin, damaging the acid mantle and this then tells the brain there is not enough oil on the skin so send more oil. It then becomes a vicious cycle and that is why some people have acne for years and I often hear them say to me “I have tried everything”.
 
I have developed a simple routine that contains natural ingredients and none of the toxic ingridients that srtip and damage the skin which invaribly will damage the skin and produce more oil and more pimples. Your skin will love you!
